25th Annual Ancent Kemetic (Egyptian) Studies Conference Invite

Announcement From
Nzinga Ratibisha Heru, International President
The Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations

Cairo, Egypt
The Great Sphinx

Here, in the shadow of the Sphinx, we complete this stage of our ritual of return and, by the events of the past several days, transition.  We have marked the twentieth anniversary of ASCAC’s 1987 pilgrimage to Kemet with a historic and successful 24th International Conference; we have introduced another generation to the study of classical Africa; we have returned the remains of one of our brightest scholar-warriors to this soil and borne witness to another’s choice to give us his final testament and instruction before making transition, not far from where we stand this afternoon.

Our Ancestor, Asa G. Hilliard III, will have his ritual of initiation into eternity next week in Atlanta.  We must now attend to the organization he helped found by following his last instruction “not to perish.” Accordingly, and by the power vested in me after consultation with the International Executive Committee, I have been authorized to make the following appointments to the Board:

As First Vice President, Leonard Jefferies
As Second Vice President, Greg Kimathi Carr
As Treasurer, Jerome Boykin
As Board Member, Mario Beatty

In the wake of the Transition of Jacob H. Carruthers, Jr. (Maa Kheru), Dr. Hilliard took over Editorship of the Historiography Volume of the African World History Project.  He will appear as Editor, but that final responsibility now passes to two Co-Editors, Mario Beatty and Greg Kimathi Carr.  They will be advised by Theophile J. Obenga.
